A crystal, which grows completely over another smaller crystal, is called a Phantom Crystal. Looking into your crystal you will see one or more smaller
crystal formations within the same framework. If a fully formed crystal is growing out of another it is not a Phantom, it is an Inner Child. If a fully formed
crystal is growing completely inside the larger crystal it is not a Phantom, it is a Creator Crystal (see Creator and Inner Child Crystals).
The phantoms within your crystal usually appear wispy and ghost-like. He inner phantom crystals are sometimes hard to see and often have no hard or
clearly defined outlines. But they will always have the same basic structure of the larger outer crystal.
What actually happened to your Phantom is this: at some point several million years ago the crystal grew to a certain height and shape and then its
nutritional source was shut off. Then at some later time, new solution flowed in and the crystal began to grow again, but totally within the boundaries of its
original framework, rather than taking new forms or directions. In other words, the crystal grew beyond its original plan or expectations due to new
incoming nutrients that provided the opportunity for continued growth and expansion within its original form. Focusing on a Phantom Crystal can remind
you that you are always well protected during these times of new growth. Just be patient and trust that your own additional nutrition will show up right on
schedule exactly when you need it, in the quantities you need it or can assimilate.
Phantoms can be used in meditation or sleep to help you trace your essence through its many selves as far back as you care to go. They can also be
used much as you would use an Inner Child Crystal, reminding you that the child within (the phantom) is always safe and protected. The outer crystal
sheaths the inner phantoms very much like your Higher Self covers and shelters you. Your Phantom is also a good reminder that everything in your life
started first with just a thought, an insubstantial wispy idea, before it was brought forward into a more solid reality.
Phantoms are found in all colors and shapes. The inner phantom will sometimes be an inclusion of a completely different mineral from its surrounding
quartz (e.g., there are Chlorite Phantoms and Siderite Phantoms). Your Phantom Crystal then takes on all of the properties of itself and its inner mineral
phantom.
